Rules:
What we are: We are an Idol role play community. Right now we will accept anyone that has made it to AT LEAST Hollywood week on American Idol. We also will accepted contestants from Canadian Idol, Australian Idol, and DSDS. Idol Associates (siblings, people they've done a duet with etc.) and idols from other countries outside of the ones listed will be accepted on a case by case basis.
Application: We are a first-come, first-served community. Before applying we ask that you have linked back to the mod journal in some way, shape or form in your user info and have a first entry up. Friends only posts WILL NOT count as a first entry. You may use their idol profile from the site but we do ask that you put at least a 5-6 line paragraph after it.
Existing Storylines: Existing storylines are accepted we just ask that you and the other person enter the community at the same time and that in the first entry you give background info on the storyline.
Journals and AIM: This server is rather "wet behind the ears" when it comes to role-play. Finding a username containing the character's name or at least some form of it should not be a problem. Also, we prefer that the un contains no extra words other than their name, and underscores should be kept to a minimum. Also, we ask that you at least have five icons, so that others can see who you are playing. "Pretty" layouts are not necessary, but if you could do at least something with them, this will show us that you care about being part of this community. (We don't mean you have to learn html and coding, but at least turn it to generator or something.) If you don't know how to change your layout at all, just ask us. We will be glad to help.
Finding an AIM screen name may be a little harder. All we ask is that it contains the person's name in some form.
Activity: Where we can't monitor you at all times, we ask that you sign onto AIM to interact with the other characters as often as you can. You can update your journal as often as you like, but we ask that you write a substantial update every four weeks. By substantial update we don't mean that you have to write huge entries. As long as they are at least two paragraphs minimum of 4-6 lines in length each you will be fine. If it is noticed that you do not sign onto AIM, and you only sign onto your journal enough to update every month, you may be eligible for an override. We're not big on 'role-hoggers' here. There's no point in taking up space with a character you have no intention of even trying to be active with. This also means that if we notice that you are only interacting with your storyline partner, and almost never signing onto your journal, a community may not be for you.
Communities: Our communities are pretty obvious what they are used for. aristarecording is where you will need to post your intro. This community is 99% AIM based however aristaoccasions is our threading community to be used for SPECIAL OCCASIONS ONLY like weddings, birthday parties, etc where not everyone will be on AIM at the same time. Please do not abuse the use of this community.
Realism: Where we don't expect you to have your character to be exactly where the real person is at all times, you should at least keep up with major appearances and jobs. If you are playing a musician, and they are on tour, make sure that you are playing them as being in the city they are currently performing in. Same goes with the location an actor is filming.
If your character is married in real life, you do not have to keep them so in the community if you do not want to. All we ask is that you play out a realistic divorce, or at least put something about it in the first entry. This way you at least mention their real life relationship.
Also, we're not one of those communities that only allow homosexuality, if the person is out in real life. Not very many are, and at the same time, there are plenty who are likely to be gay or bisexual. Where we would prefer to not see an "outbreak" of gay characters, it is perfectly fine to have a slash line here.
Marriages, divorces, and pregnancies: Yes, this gets its own section. Where we are not going to put a certain timeline between dating, engagement, and marriage, we ask that you are reasonable about it. We are playing the rich and famous here. Marriages can range from a weekend elopement, to a beautiful ceremony in your location of choice. If the marriage does not work out, which is something that happens more and more these days, make sure to play out the divorce accurately. If children are involved, the process will take a lot longer. Keep the realism of these things in mind.
Pregnancies must be the full nine months, mood swings and all. Premature births are okay but if you plan on doing this, do your research. There's often minor complications that come along with that. Pregnancies should be cleared with the mods before having your character get pregnant. We will most likely allow it, we just prefer to know what's going on. The only time we will ask you not to do a pregnancy line is if half the females are already pregnant. No need to have the entire community expecting, the community is NOT called babyboom for a reason.
Drama: Where some drama is actually encouraged, we ask that you do not let it get out of hand. If we feel that something is getting out of hand, we will deal with it. Also, if someone is causing too much drama, and the mods do not see it, we please ask that you come to one of us.
Issues such as drug abuse, alcoholism, miscarriages, and abortions are considered sensitive subjects. This is something that can cause too much unnecessary drama. We ask that you please do not do a storyline involving any of these subjects unless the person you are playing is dealing with it in real life. If you have a very strong desire to play something like this out, please talk to one of the mods. There is a chance we might allow it if we believe you can and will handle the situation with respect and maturity.
The "Golden Rule of Roleplay": Please remember the difference between in character (IC) and out of character (OOC). Keep these separate. Communication is the key. If you have a problem with a character, do not harass the writer about it. This will not be tolerated in the community. Please do your best to work things out between each other. If you cannot handle things yourself, please contact one of the mods.
Disclaimers: By federal law and the TOS of this site, you must have a proper disclaimer somewhere on your journal that is easy to find. Failing to have proper disclaimers in tact can and will cause your journal to be permanently suspended for impersonation.
Rule have been taken from samuelgoldwyn, with permission, and adapted to fit this community.
